Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Project Engineer in Pontiac, IL provides technical expertise and guidance in development of major manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness. Some goals entering this role are: reducing scrap and tooling costs, reducing overall variable burden costs, and reducing cycle times to meet customer demands.

What you will do (includes, but not limited to):

  • This position requires a high degree of experience and expertise in various or specific fields of manufacturing such as welding, heat treat, manufacturing technology, etc.
  • Provides direction and guidance to other manufacturing personnel in a continuous effort to improve manufacturing productivity.
  • Works with suppliers (both internal and external) in the development of projects, which ensure the most efficient and cost-effective systems or operations to produce quality products.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product.
  • Determines adaptability of existing corporate applications and prepares feasibility studies for new applications.
  • Coordinates various existing systems and operations with new systems and operations to ensure compatibility and directs others to modify systems accordingly to implement total package.
  • Provides leadership in the implementation of integrated technologies within the factory.
  • Develops individual presentations on all integration projects and prepares and establishes priorities for cost effectiveness.
  • Performs liaison duties with various functional areas to promote smooth transition of new and revised corporate and plant systems and operations.
  • Monitors the implementation of major systems and the coordination of those systems with the total plant.
  • The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Expert in project management

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Strong understanding of product design to combine with process design expertise to provide for improved manufacturability of parts and major components
  • Expert level in the grinding process
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming and system design on Rockwell, Siemens, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, SCADA programming
  • Experience with Middleware software set up and connectivity. (Kepware,deviceWISE)
  • Knowledge of various control communication protocols (Profi-bus, DeviceNet)
  • Experience with programming industrial robots, including robotics simulation software with RobotStudio, ROBOGUIDE, Delmia
  • SOFTWARE TOOLS: CODESYS, RMC Tools, EPLAN
  • MATLAB/Simulink experience a plus, especially modeling complex electromechanical systems
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts
  • Good written and oral communication skills
