Job description

We are a steel truss manufacturer in Terrell, TX, looking for a materials estimator to join our team in the office and be cross trained to assist the project coordinator with various tasks.

Typical hours are 8 am-5 pm Monday thru Friday.

Job summary

Provide preliminary material take-offs using CAD and CADD software to support sales. In addition material estimates, this individual will provide accurate take-offs for sold projects.

Must be proficient with computers, and have some math skills. Construction experience a plus!

Starting pay will depend on relevant experience. We will train the right person!

Summary of essential job functions

• Review contract documents and drawings
• Interpret and understand design intent of building designer
• For sold projects, insure that the optional items listed in the proposal relates to the contract drawings.
• Work with other designers
• Record project requirements for use by the sales staff
• Report project status on a predetermined schedule
• Relate and describe project specifications and details with the sales staff
• Follow the quality control parameters given
• Provide estimates to sales
• Provide accurate material counts and lengths for all applicable items sold
• Input material counts into spreadsheets for use by other departments and delivery
• Communicate with customers, building designers and sales.
