Job description
Overview:
Material Handlers move products in an industrial battery distribution center (DC). Our DC is large in size due to our batteries but operates with a small and mighty team of 20 employees. Unlike some DCs, everyone knows your name and we truly work as a team. Material handlers must perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.


Hours: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

(but committed to get all daily shipments out)


Pay rate = 21.50/hour

Responsibilities:
  • Must successfully complete the material handling training and be licensed for the equipment used.
  • Capable of performing simple math and record information in written form.
  • Input and extract information from the computer.
  • Load and unload over-the-road trailers with powered equipment.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate in simple English to receive training instruction and to perform team responsibilities.
  • Comply with all safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the warehouse in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Must be able to operate and follow JD Edwards system.
  • Comply with current quality systems requirements.
  • Follow lean manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Physical Requirements:
  • Motor skills to operate material handling equipment in locations where product is stored from the floor to 16 foot racks in narrow aisles.
  • Perform various duties requiring walking, sitting, lifting, bending, twisting.
  • Occasionally required to work in extreme environmental conditions (hot, humid, cold).
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment required of the position.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30-40 lbs.
Equipment Used:
  • Reach truck, fork lift, walkie, clipboard, pen/pencil, JD Edwards rf
Education, Experience, Skills Required:
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Previous manufacturing or related experience
