Materials Quality Engineer
Job Description:
Entegris is seeking a Material Quality Engineer to join the US team! The Material Quality Engineer is responsible for technical ownership of raw materials and external relationships with Suppliers. The role can be based out of any of the following Entegris locations: Hillsboro, Oregon, Aurora, Illinois, Colorado Springs, Colorado, or Chaska, MN. This role will balance the technical and commercial aspects with Suppliers to drive continuous improvement and variation reduction while meeting semiconductor industry quality standards. This role will also partner with the internal factory Production across various divisions if required, Process, and Quality teams to improve understanding of raw material interactions and process impacts to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership. The position will work directly with our R&D department and global Business Teams to support material selection at the product innovation stage. This role will be part of a collaborative effort towards achieving the best quality finished products for Entegris now and in the future.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage raw material quality, grading, and segregation.
- Serve as a technical owner for supplier changes as it impacts raw material ownership. Drive supplier corrective actions through the SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) process.
- Drive continuous improvement for assigned suppliers/commodities, including use of scorecard and audit tools.
- Perform regular, proactive SPC trend reviews for raw materials and report out findings and corrective actions.
- Own technical problem-solving initiatives, including customer complaints and excursion investigations that intersect with raw material properties.
- Work closely with category and commodity managers in developing Business Continuity Plans (BCP), qualifying new materials, Suppliers, or Sub-suppliers as needed.
- Collaborate with suppliers on material design, scaling up, supplier process, and raw material/ product data analysis.
- Interface directly with internal Engineering teams to define critical raw material specifications and communicate them to suppliers for agreement and compliance.
- Collaborate with development teams on high quality and cost-effective material solutions for the next generation of products.
- Operate with limited direction and exercise a significant degree of leadership in projects.
Education & Experience:
- Require a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials/ Polymer Science, or equivalent with 3+ years of experience.
- MS and/or PhD preferred.
- Six-Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred. Knowledge of statistical software like Minitab, and Advanced JMP skills are strongly preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and globally communicate effectively to internal and external personnel at all levels
- Understanding of manufacturing unit operations across the supply chain and the relationship between unit operations
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Be a subject matter and technical expert in raw material management and support Entegris corporate and division’s goals.
- Experience with raw material quality and/or technical supplier ownership
- Knowledge and experience in structured problem-solving techniques and statistics for process control
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent record-keeping skills
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Knowledge of polymers, resins, and composites is a strong plus
