SUMMARY

Pacific Clay Products, a brick manufacturing company in Lake Elsinore, CA is seeking a highly motivated full time auto mechanic responsible for servicing and repairing vehicles as assigned by management following all established standards and procedures. This is a union position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Performs tune-ups, change tires, replace spark plugs, adjust brakes.

Disassemble parts and replace parts as directed.

Performs valve grinding, brake relining, carburetor cleaning.

Performs routine maintenance on forklifts

Assists purchasing with parts purchase

May do painting.

Performs other work as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED

One year certificate from college or technical school; six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of auto shop practices and procedures

Knowledge and ability to maintain shop to OSHA and MSHA standards

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate with employees and supervisors in English. Ability to read, interpret and act on written orders. Ability to understand and follow company procedures.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or grip objects, tools or controls and talk, walk and hear. The employee is constantly required to stand and occasionally sit and walk. Will frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Will operate various hand and power tools. Will use various chemicals and oils. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to hear oral conversations, telephone calls and loudspeaker announcements are required for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work indoors and outdoors. The employee is exposed to wind, dust and occasionally rain. Adverse conditions include high heat, humidity and cold. The employee will wear hearing protection and eye protection. The employee will work with various chemicals, oils, and greases.

Successful candidate must submit to a post offer pre-employment physical exam, drug screen and background check.
