job summary:

A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a global power leader in the Columbus, IN area. This position will lead product change projects for diesel engine components.

responsibilities:
  • Complete technical assessment of new product change projects on behalf of the engineering team.
  • Own engineering aspects of assigned project and lead them to timely and successful completion via design reviews, releases, and collaboration with suppliers.
  • Participate in problem-solving and process improvement efforts where required.
  • Assist drafters and specifications as required to support product change implementation.

  • Team player and detail oriented.
  • Able to work effectively with peers in testing labs, plants, purchasing, change management, quality, and other business units (Required).
  • Manage their own projects and those of peer engineers to successful and timely closure (Required).
  • Able to Develop test plans (DVP&R) for development of products (Required).
  • Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations (Typically required).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics, and computer-generated reports (Required).
  • User level capability of MS-Office and able to quickly learn unique software for requirements management, test planning, and project tracking (Required).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related study required.
  • 2 or more years of experience required.
