Job description
A. Direct Patient Care Responsibilities
1. Performs standard and specialized diagnostic tests and procedures independently according to nursing protocols independently or under the direction of an RN or provider and in conjuction with the lab (including IV therapy, venipuncture, immunizations, EKG's, lab testing, medication, nebulizer treatments, hearing and visual exams and spirometry.)
2. Prepares patient for and assists with , examinations and treatments
3. Evaluates medication requests and relays information to appropriate provider.
4. In conjunction with the RN will triage patients who walk-in according to CHCB policy.
5. Demonstrates competency in Laboratory procedures and provides basic lab coverage as defined by the Lab Manager.
6. Assists with and participates in medical outreach programs offered at CHCB.
B. Patient Chart and Documentation Responsibilities
1.Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions; record patients' medical information and vital signs in the NextGen EHR.
2. Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records
3. Completes paperwork related to the patient visit including medical and billing forms, prior authorizations, and medical necessities
C. Nursing & Clinic Team Responsibilities
1. Facilitates patient care activities and coordinates flow of patients in the clinical setting.
2.Assists with stocking exam rooms and PODS with appropriate forms, supplies and patient educational materials; maintain sterilization room, (including cleaning, wrapping and sterilizing of instruments) following CHCB protocol.
3. Assists with Quality Control and monitoring of medical and diagnostic equipment as needed
4. Ensures removal of BIOHAZARD materials according to protocol
Basic Qualifications
Education:
- High School Graduate with vocational training or ability to be trained as a Medical Assistant
- Prior Medical Assistant experience highly preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to acquire knowledge of medical terminology and standardized testing procedures
- BLS Certified
- Must possess or be willing to acquire clinical and organizational skills
- Must work accurately and efficiently in a fast paced environment
- Ability to seek out appropriate resources to problem solve effectively
- Experience working with a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic groups
