Ready to join in? We are seeking a full-time Medical Secretary who will provide administrative support a sports medicine surgeon. The ideal candidate will exhibit high standards, excellent communication details, attention to detail, organization and ability to prioritize daily tasks. This position will be based at the Orthopedic Building in Chicago, IL near the Illinois Medical District. Candidate will need to have flexibility to travel to Naperville, IL., Oak Brook, IL and Munster, IN for clinic days with the team.

Essendtial Duties and Responsibilities*

  • Functions as a liaison between patients, physician practices, internal departments, hospitals and other organizations.
  • Schedules appointments
  • Answers multi-line phone system
  • Answers, triages and returns phone calls.
  • Chart preparations for clinic day and manages surgery scheduling.
  • Completes correspondence including faxing, mailing, work comp reports, draft letters, and maintenance of medical appointment schedules for the practice.
  • Responsible for assisting to organize any meetings for assigned physician.
  • Represents physicians by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; receiving/announcing scheduled attorneys, salespeople and/or visitors. Screen potential patients and visitors; arranging referrals to other health care providers; scheduling appointments for consultations, x-rays, lab tests, physical therapy, MRI's, CT scans, etc.
  • Manage calendars.

  • Operate basic office equipment such as a computer, phone and fax machine.
  • Multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Work and communicate with patients, physicians and staff in all levels of the organization.

Education and/or Experience*

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Previous medical experience is a plus.
