Supply Base Quality & Core Quality Control has an exciting opportunity within the Production Readiness (Process Capability) value stream for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to act as the Member Point Focal (MFP) within the New Product Introduction (NPI) team. This team is responsible for working closely with our suppliers to ensure we deliver affordable, high-quality parts that meet our customer's dynamic needs. A major focus of this role is to provide support to the Global Supply Chain organization relative to improvement of suppliers' Quality as well as providing Quality interface expertise and support to Suppliers and PW peer organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance by providing guidance and direction with regards to dedicated PW quality systems and requirements both within the supply base and OEM manufacturing
- Primary contact for PW Engineering and Procurement teams; Collect/Compile data and drive Continuous improvement initiatives at the supplier in reaction to quality escapes, and in support of reduced cost and lead-time.
- Maintain key relationships with Value Stream Managers, Mod center functional teams, Supplier Development Group, and suppliers
- Team with Engineering and Procurement to execute the supply base improvement plans to improve quality signature and ensure customer confidence Support Manufacturing Corrective Action Board (MCAB) reviews
- Support Quality and Operations Management teams, and PW Engineering to execute the supply base improvement plans and meet customer requirements
- Provide timely and effective communications to all levels of organization
- Drive product and process improvements that ensure Module Center quality metric goals are met (Escapes, Scrap, Rework and Process Cert)
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement using ACE tools to implement change, eliminate escapes, reduce cost, and lead times.
- Coordinate cross functional activities to improve supplier quality signatures
- Maintain key relationships with external suppliers’ Quality and Operations Management teams.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
- US citizenship required due to government contracts
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9000 quality systems.
- Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, MRL and QCPC with demonstrated experience in applying these in, aerospace and related industries
- Creative troubleshooting skills
- Able to craft clear communications across teams and organizations
- Computer skills- Proficient in Microsoft office suite of tools - Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, Project
- Comprehensive Analytical Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates at all levels throughout the organization
- Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with quality tools such as PFMEA, DFMEA, GR&R, GD&T elements
- Demonstrated skills in driving CAR and PAR and eliminating non-conformance at the supplier level
- Practical CORE/ACE/Six Sigma experience or other equivalent Lean Systems experience a plus
- ASQ certifications a plus
- A highly motivated self-starter with an ability to meet commitments, balance and resolve conflicting priorities
- High energy, dynamic individual who strives for continuous improvement
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years Quality Engineering experience in an aerospace production or equivalent environment.
- Must be knowledgeable / experienced in AS9100 / ISO 9001 Quality systems.
- Must possess working knowledge/ proficiency in Quality tools such as FAI, PFMEA, DFMEA, GR&R, GD&T elements, etc.
- Practical ACE/Six Sigma experience or other Lean Systems experience a plus.
- ASQ (CQE, CQM) certifications a plus.
- Ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates at all levels of the organization.
- Up to 25% travel may be required
