Position: Medical Technologist - Microbiology

Job Description: We are seeking a Medical Technologist in Microbiology to perform specimen processing, microbiology, serology, and infectious disease testing independently under the direction of a laboratory supervisor, manager, or director. The successful candidate will ensure timely and compliant processing and testing, perform preventive maintenance on equipment, apply concepts of laboratory medicine, and adhere to department policies and accreditation/regulatory requirements. They will also assist in the orientation, training, and competency documentation of department personnel as requested.

Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen processing, microbiology, serology, and infectious disease testing
• Ensure timely and compliant processing and testing
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
• Apply concepts of laboratory medicine
• Adhere to department policies and accreditation/regulatory requirements
• Assist in the orientation, training, and competency documentation of department personnel

Requirements:

• Associate's Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry
• National Certification as a Medical Technologist
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory methods, microbiology, serology, and infectious disease processes
• General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements
• General knowledge of laboratory billing guidelines
• Excellent communication skills
• Effective teamwork and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize and organize work

Salary Range:

• Microbiology Technologist: $26.66 - $38.65 per hour
• Microbiology Technician: $22.03 - $31.95 per hour

Sign-on Bonus:

• Microbiology Technologist: $7,500
• Microbiology Technician: $5,000
