Job Duties and Responsibilities
The criteria for an evaluation in this position include but are not limited to the following:
Operating sUAV daily for evaluating and optimizing drilling and blasting- Use GPS and rover/base station to layout drill hole, and verify drilled accuracy
- Use 3D modeling software to model the minimum burden for drilling and blasting
- Support, implement, and be accountable for Drill and Blasting safety and optimization best practices
- Tracking drilling and blasting performance locally
- Conduct UAV surveys for inventory control and mine planning site surveys as needed
- Assist mine engineer with the management of rock coring program including database management, assist with coring in the field, and gathering of field data, and visual observations of the coring process
- Assist mining and environmental engineers with site permitting on an as-needed basis
- Other tasks as directed by the Area Operations Manager
Education and/or Experience
- Associates degree in Surveying Technology or a related discipline preferred, relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, background check, and have a clean driving record.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Must be willing to travel to various sites daily and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Must have the ability to work without close supervision.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- FAA Part 107 or the ability to obtain one
- Working knowledge of basic surveying equipment such as base station, rover, RTK GPS Systems, and MI CORS network
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.
- Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand the information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
- Demonstrate effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn CAD modeling software, Carlson mine planning software, and 3GSM.
- Negotiating, analytical, and organizational skills are essential.
- Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
- Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Physical Demands
- This position requires working outside in any weather condition, walking, standing, bending, twisting, sitting, and lifting more than 50 lbs.
