COMPASS Academy is a new public charter school located off Lyndale Avenue in Bloomington.This is the second campus within district 4240 in addition to New Century School, located in St. Paul. COMPASS Academy hires high quality staff that are well trained and prepared to teach in a high standard educational environment. We have rigorous curriculum and programming that is data driven.

We are seeking an experienced and organized Office Manager and HR person to join our team at our new charter school. This individual will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the school's administrative office and providing HR support to the school's staff.

Start Date: August 2023

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in office management and/or HR administration.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to HR and employment practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a charter school or other educational setting is preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the school's administrative office, including maintaining office supplies and equipment, coordinating schedules, and ensuring the office runs smoothly.
  • Provide HR support to the school's staff, including managing employee files, maintaining accurate records of staff attendance and time off, and processing payroll.
  • Managing student files, and maintaining accurate records of student documents including enrollment, transfers, and other documents needed throughout the year.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to HR and employment practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and external vendors and service providers, such as legal and accounting firms.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with school staff, parents, and community members.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the school.
  • Coordinate and manage special projects, as needed.
