Position Summary: The Recruitment & Onboarding Specialist is responsible for the execution of lifecycle talent acquisition for both skilled trades and administrative positions. This individual will also play a key role in onboarding team members to HOST and driving engagement initiatives throughout the organization. The successful candidate possesses a drive for sourcing top talent with an engaging and infectious positive energy. Although the role is primarily based at Avondale Global Gateway, this individual will also regularly visit HOST’s United Bulk Terminals operation in Davant, LA as well as operations in Port Allen, LA. The role reports into the Director of HR located in Norfolk, VA and will work closely with other members of the Norfolk-based HR team.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

TALENT ACQUISITION
Pro-actively source through various means for specialized, professional and hard-to-fill roles.
Support a diverse slate of requisitions from end-to-end while meeting established KPIs.
Utilize behavioral-based screening questions for each unique role and coach hiring managers through interviewing process.
In collaboration with the HR practitioner, identify appropriate assessment and skills testing resources to aid candidate evaluation process.
Screen candidates through various platforms including in-person, phone and video conferencing.
Prepare offer letters and extend offers to selected candidates. Support any negotiations that may occur during this process.
Attend regular TA standup meetings and provide up-to-date information regarding all active requisitions.
Develop relationships with local and regional high schools, colleges and technical trades programs.
Attend local and regional career fairs representing HOST.
Stay current with ever-evolving TA methods and strategies and propose to HR leadership implementing new best practices.

TEAM MEMBER ONBOARDING
Conduct and support team member onboarding initiatives effectively introducing new team members to HOST, its culture, and its core values.

TEAM MEMBER ENGAGEMENT
Partner with local leadership, enterprise-wide HR and marketing & communications on activities, events and initiatives that drive team member engagement.

HR ADMINISTRATION
Various tactical and administrative work supporting the above initiatives which will include but is not limited to adding new hires into HRIS, drafting correspondence letters and emails, administering all aspects of background and pre-employment through HOST’s third-party vendor system. The successful individual will also ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations concerning the employing of talent.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Two years minimum of HR admin or recruiting experience OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least one year of general experience in HR. HR-related internships also count toward this requirement. Professional HR certifications preferred yet not required.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to maintain a high degree of organization striving for accuracy in all work.
  • Professional, approachable, genuine and objective in all matters relating to human capital.
  • Able to professionally maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and in ever-changing conditions.
  • Intermediate level skills in MS Office Suite including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must have valid drivers license with positive driving record.
