Job description

The Operations Manager is responsible for the directing and overseeing transportation-related operations of the Brainerd and Crow Wing transit system including managing employees, working with the city transit officials, and interacting with the community. This position oversees drivers and dispatchers as well as manages the relationship with our maintenance vendors. We are looking for someone with experience in managing operations. The ideal candidate is a reliable individual with good communication skills who cares about people and can effectively manage. Having knowledge of transportation systems, government regulations, and maintenance of transportation fleet is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Organize, manage, and evaluate the transit system operations
• Direct the workforce to achieve maximum operational effectiveness
• Provide guidance, mentoring and support to employees including drivers and dispatchers
• Direct the activities of transit operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicle maintenance
• Liaise with Transportation Coordinator for the Brainerd & Crow Wing Transit System
• Plan and implement health, safety, and security programs
• Monitor operations to ensure that all staff comply with policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations
• Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints
• Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with employees, stakeholders, and community members

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field (a combination of related training and experience in business and transportation may be considered as well)
• Management of People: 4 years (preferred)
• Significant skills in dealing effectively with the public, including experience in conflict resolution, problem solving, and decision-making in positions providing customer service
• Have CDL or be willing to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
