Job Description:

The Church Operations Manager is charged with the accounting and management of church funds, keeping appropriate and accurate financial records, and financial reporting to the Finance Committee, the Board of Trustees, and the Church Staff; this includes general oversight of church facility operations.

This position is a salaried position that requires approximately 25-27 hours per week. There will be two weeks of paid vacation each year.

Accountability:

The Church Operations Manager is accountable to the Senior Pastor and the SPRC. The Church Operations Manager will work with the Senior Pastor to ensure the financial and daily operations of the facility run smoothly.

Qualifications/Requirements:

This position requires an individual with hands-on experience in business management and accounting of church finances. A degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline is preferred, but relevant hands-on experience in similar positions may be substituted for a degree. Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills are important. Other specific requirements are:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with recommended financial software – Quickbooks or Intuit - including all payroll functions
  • Proficiency with church database software
  • Knowledge of UMC Book of Discipline and Conference financial procedures

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight of the church finances to maintain cash flow, income, and expenses. Completes accounts payable and receivable reporting, payroll, purchasing, receipting and disbursements utilizing financial management software.
  • Prepares a monthly financial report and assists with required reports for annual Charge Conference.
  • Works with the church staff and Finance Committee on the creation of the annual budget.
  • Assists the church staff in managing ministry budgets by providing monthly reports on expenses.
  • Schedules an annual audit of the church finances.
  • Ensures all tax reports are promptly paid and filed timely.
  • Attends meetings of the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.
  • Maintains financial records and payroll for Children’s Day Out program.
  • Administers all policies and procedures concerning the use of all church properties and facilities, as determined by the appropriate church committees.
  • Schedules maintenance and repairs for all church property and equipment.
  • Manages church vendors, contracts, and seeks competitive bids for approval by the Trustees.
  • Oversees building security and systems (e.g. heating/cooling, internet) and coordinates regulation.
  • Maintains an inventory of church property and equipment.
  • Evaluates the insurance needs of the church and reports findings to the Trustees.

Pay: $26,000.00 - $28,000.00 per year
