Associated Eye Care is a multi-specialty group practice providing surgical services and vision care for all ages. We have five locations spanning the eastern Twin Cities of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Position Summary
This position assists optical customers in the purchase and/or maintenance of eyewear that fit the prescription and lifestyle needs. The optician delivers knowledge, experience and service excellence with the goal of exceeding expectations and creating loyal customers.
Essential Functions
Sales functions
- Primary function is that of a sales professional in a fast-paced optical environment
- Greet all customers like a friend or relative as per service standards, whether in-person or by phone
- Style and fit glasses to customer specifications
- Maximize each transaction by educating customer on premium products, lens enhancements and benefits of multiple pairs of glasses
- Accurately inspect eyewear before final dispense, ensuring proper fit and care of product
- Receive and dispense eyewear orders into optical practice management system
- Ensure seamless coordination with providers to enhance the overall patient experience
Operational & Customer Service Functions
- Properly adjust and repair customer eyewear
- Process warranty replacements and returns
- Follow board management guidelines
- Ensure frame boards and optical displays are consistently maintained to support a premier shopping experience
- Maintain appropriate standards of quality, honesty, and customer service
- Maintain up-to-date procedural manuals, as appropriate
Other Essential Functions
- Must be willing and able to work a variety of hours and work in the various locations as needed. The locations include Hudson, Hugo, New Richmond, Stillwater, Woodbury and any partner facility
- Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time
- Participates in department and company meetings, as requested
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Licensing
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
- Current American Board of Opticianry Certification preferred or required within 12 months of employment
Experience
- Experience and understanding of all aspects related to operations of an optical dispensary preferred
Job Specific Skills & Knowledge
- Working knowledge of inventory management and eyewear sales
- Possesses a wide-ranging fund of knowledge applicable to ophthalmic and optometric care and current trends in eyewear
