We are looking for an energetic person to join our fast paced team! Must love working with people, be comfortable working with computers and technology, and is a team player.

This position is full-time and will be anywhere between 34-38 hour per week. Primarily for our Oshkosh location but will occasionally need to fill in for our Appleton location.

Previous optical experience would be preferred but willing to train the right person!

Optician Duties & Responsibilities:

• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frame styles to suit the patient's needs.
• Measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for patient's according to their written prescription or specification by the optometrist.
• Assist patients with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses.
• Prepare patient orders for optical laboratories containing instructions for edging and mounting lenses in frames.
• Making sure that orders for glasses and contact lenses have been processed accurately.
• Adjust frames to properly fit patients.
• Perform administrative duties such as tracking inventory, sales, and submitting patient insurance information.
• Sell goods such as contact lenses, spectacles, sunglasses, and other goods related to eyes in general.
• Instruct patients on how to wear and care for eyeglasses.
• Repair damaged frames.
• Arrange and maintain displays of optical merchandise.

We would prefer someone with previous optical experience, but are willing to train the right candidate.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

• Customer Service - This includes assessing the patient's needs, properly communicating with patients, effectively solving problems, showing empathy, and patience.
• Computer Literacy - Basic, non-technical knowledge about computers and how to use them. This includes familiarity and experience with computers and software.

Other Non-Required Skills & Knowledge:

• Sales & Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales aids.
