MEDIKO is a privately-owned, correctional healthcare provider based in Richmond, VA. We proudly provide compassionate, comprehensive medical, dental, and mental health services to underserved populations in correctional facilities. At MEDIKO, our people are our most important resource, and this position will support our rapid growth.
We now seek a Part Time Optometrist for contract work with us at the Richmond City Justice Center. This is an opportunity to join a diverse team that brings knowledge and skills from a variety of backgrounds. The Optometrist need is for 2 days per week, 8hr shifts, every-other-week. Our healthcare providers have autonomy when practicing with us to deliver the best evaluation and treatment possible.
What You’ll Do:
- Test, evaluate, assess, and diagnose patients for disease and impaired vision.
- Prescribe optical medication when indicated.
- Prescribe corrective lenses where indicated.
- Must bring portable equipment for mobile testing and measurements.
- Follow established policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement and safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines.
- Maintain patient records and charts documenting all services rendered.
- Recommend referrals to facilities for patients in need of care unavailable in the jail setting.
What We Require:
- OD from an accredited school of optometry, at minimum.
- Current and Active license as an Optometrist from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Professions.
- CPR certified prior to starting work on site.
- One year experience in general optometry.
- Proof of COVID Vaccination
