OVERVIEW

The Order Entry Lead Technician is responsible for providing supervisory assistance to the Pharmacy Manager with the day-to-day management, production, and operation of the Order Entry department ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of prescription data.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of the order entry department to meet day-to-day operations in order entry, new and refill orders, customer service inbound and outbound calls, maintenance of current nursing home bed census, and pharmacy claims resolution
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and disciplinary functions associated with order entry, call center, and census personnel
  • Responsible for achieving department goals in volume, production, quality, customer service, and completion of daily order entry by run time deadlines
  • Monitor staff performance for productivity, accuracy, and quality. Take appropriate steps to maintain staff performance levels are at or above standards including retraining or performance improvement programs
  • Prepare and conduct department’s employee performance evaluations, along with conducting coaching or warning sessions
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve operations including, but not limited to, cost reduction, productivity improvement, increased capacity, improved quality, enhanced service, and best practices workflows
  • Coordinate with other departments to include, but are not limited to, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and delivery and inventory control departments to achieve daily production and services goals
  • Customer Focus - Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; getting first-hand customer information and using it for improvements in products and services; talking and acting with customers in mind; establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers; gaining customers’ trust and respect
  • Participate in special projects or training to identify and implement operational improvements
  • Able to work with others in a positive productive manner, anticipate, and respond to the position's areas of responsibilities
  • Comply and enforce all company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Comply with all applicable state and federal regulations related to pharmacy practices
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications by state regulations and state of practice
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years managing the day-to-day operating activities of a healthcare environment or long-term care pharmacy
  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications
  • Experience with alpha-numeric data entry
  • Must have a basic understanding of medical terminology with ability to interpret prescriptions and doctors’ orders
  • Math and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of SIG codes
  • Experience with document imaging
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with staffing management
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, crawl intermittently

  • May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY

We provide qualifying full-time employees with 23 PTO (Paid Time Off) days annually. PTO is used for holidays, vacation, sick leave, and personal leave.


Please note we are a long-term care pharmacy open 24-hours, 7 days a week. And schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.
