Preble Street is currently seeking a full-time McKinney Vento Regional Outreach Specialist to work as part of the Teen Housing and Outreach Services team. Teen Housing and Outreach Services works with youth and young adults ages 12-24 and is embedded within the larger Teen Services Department, open 24/7 365 days a year.
The Outreach Specialist is community-based and works with the McKinney-Vento liaison in school districts within Cumberland and York counties to support schools in identifying, outreaching, and supporting students and families experiencing homelessness through developing outreach plans and materials, collaborating with community partners, providing training and technical assistance, and connecting eligible students and families with wraparound services and referrals.
This position currently has a Monday-Friday schedule.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and experience relevant to working with youth experiencing homelessness, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
This position also requires understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission, positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, as well as strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; skills in providing training and technical assistance; familiarity with community resources; strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain documentation of services; ability to maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; the ability to work collaboratively with team members; and the ability to promote productive, collaborative relationships with external partners.
Eligibility for employment with Teen Services also requires that staff be at least 21 years of age; undergo and pass a physical examination, which includes a test for TB; hold certification or become certified in First Aid and CPR (on-site training opportunities offered); provide proof of education (diploma or transcript); and have acceptable background check results, including BMV. Teen Services staff also must attend recurrent, regularly scheduled trainings, which are provided on-site. Reliable transportation is required for this position.
Compensation:
This full-time position offers competitive pay at a rate of $20.00 per hour, which annualizes to $41,600, as well as generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits including:

• 160 hours (4 weeks) vacation time, 96 hours (12 days) sick time, 16 hours personal time, 12 Paid Holidays
