Job Title: Packing & Crating Specialist
Department: Base Operations & Maintenance
Job Summary:
The Packing & Crating Specialist is responsible for building custom wooden crates along with packing and shipping outbound assets as well as handling and monitoring inbound material shipments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
Monitor and account for all inventory
Assist Management with placing orders
Inspect Incoming deliveries and properly record on documentation
Operate Material Handling Equipment, Forklifts, and Loaders.
Assist with managing commercial and noncommercial supplies for base operations
Process all cargo in computer operating systems, including Cargo Movement Operation System (CMOS) and or Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES), and provide In-Transit Visibility (ITV) requirements for transportation.
Manage reusable container program for the base and provide instructions to squadrons that have reusable container program requirements
Shall manually input all required cargo documentation as approved Air Force system of record when computer systems are inoperable
Coordinate with warehouse workers to ensure proper storage and distribution of assets. Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation and stay up to date with safety regulations
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficient written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents
Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
Proficient Microsoft Office productivity suite
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least two years of related experience required
Shall be Hazardous Cargo certified and must be able to obtain and maintain qualification as a Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Preparer
Working knowledge of Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) and packaging requirements in accordance with (SPIRES)
Familiar with Management of USAF Base Supply Programs, with Quality Control, Safety, Environmental, and Health Management in a Military Service Contract environment
Knowledge of the Operation of Standard Air Force Information Systems related to the Transportation Management Office, Freight Traffic Services, Mission Requirements and Warehousing Services
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
Ability to hear and see to the position and safety requirement levels
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass, as required, a federal, state, or local government background investigation
Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
Shall be available to work weekends and after hours to meet all scheduled deployment requirements and physically respond within 30 minutes of telephone notification during normal duty hours and within one hour after normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays.
