SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting to fill a Part Time Lead Park and Trail Ranger (3/4 time) vacancy.

Consider becoming a Lead Park Ranger with the San Marcos Outdoor Adventures Division. As a Lead Park Ranger, you will be the front-line source of information about the City’s 41 parks and 72-mile trail network—all while interpreting and enforcing park rules and regulations to improve the recreation experience for all San Marcos residents and visitors.
Rangers must be 18 years of age, have a valid California driver’s license and pass a background investigation. Park Rangers patrol parks, trails, and other City properties to ensure compliance with codes, laws, regulations, and policies governing the use of facilities. They are responsible for ensuring the safety of users, protecting the integrity of City resources and property, and assisting with studies, surveys, designs, and reports on various problems and proposals related to the parks and facilities. Duties of a Park Ranger also include researching, developing, and implementing educational and interpretive programs, activities and projects for customers and visitors, as well as other jobs as assigned.
PT Lead Park Ranger positions are limited to working an average of 30 hours per week and no more than 1499 hours per fiscal year. Specific hours for each position are determined per department and per budgetary approval.
This position will require early morning, afternoon, late evening, weekend and holiday hours.
