Job description

Hodge is seeking to hire an overnight or early-morning driver to manage and run all collection shifts per week, helping us shape food waste collection and scale source-separation of organics in New York City.

We provide 5-gallon containers to customers, primarily restaurant businesses, to separate their organics like food prep discard and food waste. Hodge picks the filled containers weighing between 18-38 lbs. up from the establishments 3x per week.

Our collection drivers are responsible for driving an assigned route to pick up containers, enter data on the route, and unload the van at the warehouse at the end. This responsible driver will pick-up filled 5-gallon containers promptly from our customers and leave behind a stack of empty, clean ones.

Collection service runs Tuesday overnight, Thursday overnight, and Saturday overnight between 10:30PM - 7:00AM. Each shift is 4 hours long. This is a starting contract role. Drivers that enjoy the job, do well will be hired on as full-time employees with benefits.

Responsibilities

• Loading containers at restaurant and drop off correct number of clean buckets and lids
• Unloading filled van at warehouse
• Follow routes and time schedule, ensuring schedule is kept to best of ability and using assigned software
• Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate a delivery vehicle (keep vehicle clean, filled with gas, and report any issues)
• Complete data entry logs and route reports to operations lead
• Follow DOT regulations and safety standards
• Deal with containers, material + van in safe and responsible manner
• Weighing and weight entry for collected material per shift
• Provide ongoing feedback, reporting and ensure quality service improvements for Hodge
