Position Information

This position is located in the Parks department.

The purpose of this classification is to transport fuel/oil/lubricants in a 300 gallon capacity fuel delivery truck to various park locations and fill assorted fleet vehicles and equipment with proper types of needed materials.

Essential Functions

Transports fuel to various park locations: obeys all traffic codes, ordinances, laws and regulations; fills various fleet vehicles and equipment; reviews route and schedule and makes changes as necessary; checks fuel levels of fleet equipment and vehicles and fills the tanks of said equipment/vehicles with correct fuel type, oil and lubricants.

Operates vehicle to highest safety standards; conducts daily vehicle safety inspection; maintains daily logs and safety equipment inventory; keeps vehicles clean and gassed; reports all maintenance and safety concerns to supervisor; and drives vehicle to Fleet Maintenance for regular service.

Makes deliveries as needed: delivers fuel/oil/lubricants as needed to various park locations. Ascertains specific direction to each destination before each route or trip. Check fuel levels of fleet equipment (landscape, tractors, loaders, 2-cycle units, etc.) and fill the gas tanks of that equipment with the correct fuel/oil/lubricants as needed. Checks the fuel levels in the fuel delivery truck and maintains accurate records and documentation regarding fuel consumption of various equipment.

Ensures proper operations and mechanical conditions of the County fuel-delivery truck. Knowledge of the potential hazards and safety precautions necessary to perform the fuel dispensing function for PARK Operations.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by one year of experience providing transportation; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Class B CDL is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License, including appropriate endorsements. Must possess and maintain valid CPR and First Aid certifications.

Physical Abilities

Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, or traffic hazards.
