Summary

The Coral Gables Golf and Country Club strives to offer a world-class country club to include fitness, wellness, social, and recreational amenities, as well as dining, entertainment, special events, and private venue opportunities for the community to gather and enjoy. Modeled after the City Beautiful-planned community movement, the Mediterranean Revival style building is a historic landmark, and the City’s first public building and golf course. Built in 1922, the club is part of the original 1921 city plan developed by Coral Gables’ founder and visionary George Merrick and is the namesake for the neighboring historic district which is comprised of the country club, the golf course, and 84 private residences.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Special Projects Specialist performs a variety of professional and administrative work in planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating special events, film permits and projects under Community Recreation. Assists in the supervision of the Special Projects Assistant, volunteers and vendors. Exercises considerable initiative and judgment under the supervision of the Special Projects Coordinator.

The Special Projects Specialist will assist the Special Project Coordinator in coordinating and implementing a variety of event activities, provide information on permit requirements, recreation events and activities, handle cash and sales transactions, prepare and serve food, and assist with the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility or event location of assignment.

Please note the position will be assigned to the Coral Gables Country Club.

Qualifications

Minimum age of 18 years with High School diploma or equivalent.

One year customer service experience required.

One year retail or cash handling experience required.

Food handling experience, preferred.

First Aid & CPR Certification, preferred.

PART-TIME (15-24 Hours):

ANNUAL LEAVE: 4 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 4.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.

SICK LEAVE: 4 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 15 hours if more than 2 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.

HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).

BEREAVEMENT: 3 Days for the death of an immediate family member (Parent, spouse, or child) and 2 days for any other immediate family member.

ADMINISTRATIVE SICK LEAVE: Employees who have not used sick leave, leave without pay, or have not lost time due to an on-the-job injury in a 6 month period are entitled to 1 day of administrative leave.

CASH PAY OUT OF VACATION: Employees may request payment of accrued/earned annual leave not to exceed 15 hours at the rate of pay in effect at the time of the request, provided such request is made no later than September 30, 2015 (or as amended every fiscal year).

MILITARY LEAVE: 30 work days every year with pay and the remainder of the period shall be without pay, unless otherwise provided by City Commission.

JURY DUTY: Time off with pay if scheduled to work.


PART-TIME (25 -29 Hours)

ANNUAL LEAVE: 8 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 5.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.

SICK LEAVE: 8 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 30 hours if more than 4 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.

HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).

BEREAVEMENT: 3 Days for the death of an immediate family member (Parent, spouse, or child) and 2 days for any other immediate family member.
