Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Patient Rep II Document Imaging Processor monitors system problems and initiates the proper course of action for problem resolution based on job knowledge and experience.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi values
  • Monitors system problems, and makes appropriate calls to 1-7800 Help Desk
  • Sorts and distributes account documentation and system reports to appropriate departmental associates
  • Opens and routes incoming mail according to departmental procedures
  • Prepares, scans, indexes, and Q/C all patient account documentation
  • Adheres to customer oriented turnaround timeframes
  • Maintains productive, harmonious working relationship with internal and external contacts
  • Conveys expected service message of positive assistance and support
  • Acts independently to resolve problems, seeking guidance when necessary
  • Initiates the proper course of action for problem resolution based on job knowledge and experience
  • Accepts responsibility for a wide variety of duties in support of all patient account processes
  • Resolves inquiries from internal and external customers
  • Takes active leadership role in special projects

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • One year recent work experience in a business office setting, preferably in the healthcare field
  • Two year Associates Degree in business-related field preferred, with a minimum of three years in a patient accounting environment may be substituted for educational experience
  • Minimum of three years' experience in systems operations preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Willingness and ability to assist other team members.
  • Ability to access patient information using DataArk, STAR, AdvancedMD and OnBase Systems
  • Accurate attention to detail, record keeping and documentation
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to cooperate with others
  • Minimum keyboarding proficiency of 40 - 60 words per minute is required
  • Must be able to work independently and quickly without loss of accuracy
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, Windows
  • Utilizes adding machine, printers, Xerox, and fax machines
  • Strong organization and ability to work efficiently in a multi-task environment
  • Maintains a consistent standard of excellence to which all departmental work is expected to conform
