PRN Pharmacist
The Pharmacist is responsible for the safe,accurate and rational distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients of all ages, employees and designated areas of the hospital, as well as the supervision of technical personnel. This shall be carried out in accordance with all state and federal laws, JCAHO standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.

- Graduate of Pharmacy required.
- Experience in an Organized Health System Setting preferred.
- Licensed as a Pharmacist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required.
- Supervises supportive personnel in the performance of their technical duties.
- Responsible for all the technical and professional functions related to the dispensing of medications for diverse age population.
- Responsible for enforcing Departmental policies and procedures as outlined in the respective manuals; (i.e. unit dose dispensing; I.V. admixture services, controlled substances distribution system).
- Provides drug information to physician, nurses, and other health professionals. Demonstrates specific knowledge and ability to provide drug information, calculate drug dosages and prepare medications for neonate, pediatrics, adult and geriatric patients.
- Monitors drug therapy of patients by screening medication orders and reviewing Patient Medication Profile for potential medication problems. Contacts prescriber when appropriate.
- Participates on ill call list for pharmacists and rotates shifts and weekends as needed to properly staff the department with professional personnel.
- Works on special projects as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director.
- Maintain competency as required by professional standard.
