United Health Services is seeking a Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Aide to join our team in Johnson City, NY 13790.

Salary range: $15.56 - $21.06/hour, depending on experience

Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Aide Overview

Maintains a clean and neat environment on a daily basis, keeps supplies in their proper order, distributes supplies, assists professional staff with patient transports in a timely manner, and assists patients with ambulation and predetermined exercise programs by following instructions accurately. Priority is given to those duties that require patient movement within the system and assisting the professional staff with patient treatment.

Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Aide Responsibilities and Expectations

Fits crutches, quad and straight canes, walker, hot/cold pack preparation, range of motion, ADL activities, bed mobility, transfers, sitting balance, use of adaptive equipment (i.e. POKI, abduction pillow, slings). Supervises prepared exercise programs for patients, as determined by a therapist.
Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or assists ambulatory patient to the Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation department. In addition, prepares transportation schedule and notifies the nursing units on a daily basis.
Utilizes necessary precautions for patients who have disabilities related to head injury, stroke, total hip replacement, total knee replacement, compression screws, and other orthopedic/neuro-musculoskeletal conditions, as required.
Maintains a clean environment, including cleaning of hydrocollator/cold pack equipment, wipes down exercise equipment and all other treatment equipment, supports professional staff with stocking appropriate linens in the necessary locations.
Assists in maintaining stock of items required to perform treatment of patients, removes defective equipment from the treatment area and reports all defective equipment problems to the professional staff.
Answers telephones, takes accurate messages, makes copies, provides front desk coverage, delivers mail, enters orders and charges.
Participates in departmental and organizational initiatives for performance improvement (PI), and demonstrates knowledge of hospital and departmental infection control policies.
Comply with proper hand hygiene protocols to ensure patient safety.

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:
Has a working knowledge of medical terminology, previous experience in patient care and clerical skills

License/Certification

Minimum Required:
CPR certification within first 3 months of employment.
