ZACHRY/JVIC is currently seeking an experienced Pipe Fitter to join our fabrication team at the Freeport Fabrication Shop.
Position Summary
An Industrial Pipe Fitter will assemble, layout, install and maintain pipe systems.
Required Qualifications
- Must have 4+ years’ experience with the pipe fitting processes.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting isometric and orthographic drawings.
- Must be able to stand for 10 hours, and squat and bend at the waist as needed throughout the day.
- Can lift at least 50lbs.
- Professional ability to work well with management.
- Excellent communication and teaming abilities
- Attention to detail!
- Proven organizational skills.
- Proven work ethic
- Need to perform at shop level.
- Must know the difference between Eccentric and Concentric Reducers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Former Zachry/JVIC Employee
- Education: High School Diploma or GED; preferred or Formal/technical education
- Experience: Must have 4+ years working as an Industrial Pipe Fabricator or related field.
- Computer Skills: Not applicable
- Certification/Licenses: None specifically required; However, NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fabricator; preferred.
- Must be able to read prints and illustrate thorough knowledge of pipe fitting procedures and skills.
- Must have good leadership and communication skills.
Position Responsibilities
- Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations.
- Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations,
quantities, and sizes of materials required. - Identify all tools required for tasks and perform minor maintenance/cleaning of tools.
- Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
- Prepare and fabricate pipe/materials to the required specifications.
- Lay out, position, align and fit components together in various body positions. - Bolt, clamp, and weld together metal components of products, such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes.
- Cut Plate or other structural items.
- Perform test to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
- Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
- Report any unsafe conditions wherever they exist to the safety department, their supervisor, or management.
- Report all incidents/accidents/injuries involving the health and wellbeing of any employee to management immediately.

Physical Requirements
• Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
- Will talk and hear to communicate.
- Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
- May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will work at heights up to 300’ utilizing proper fall protection.
- Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
- Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots
