Job Summary
The Plant Controller is primarily responsible for working closely with the General Manager to ensure operating efficiency and achievement of key performance indicators which drive plant performance and profitability.
Essential Functions
- Collect and analyze data associated with manufacturing costs, material purchasing, inventory, product design, labor and reports on budgeted costs versus actual costs to ensure accurate valuation of inventory, including transaction integrity.
- Track and report cost reduction activity at the facility.
- Provide reports and support to plant general manager and corporate, with the annual standard cost development of plant rates.
- Ensure adequate financial controls are in place for all plant financial reporting including inventories.
- Ensure manufacturing variances are understood and actionable based on the collection and analysis of data.
- Prepare monthly manufacturing variance forecasting and annual budget to determine plant rates.
- Monitor plant productivity KPIs.
- Support CC initiatives (participation in Kaizens and A3 problem solving events), ensuring projects are defined with clear financial objectives and results are tracked and reported accordingly.
- Asses current manufacturing operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes to add credibility to accounting reporting.
- Produce relevant ad hoc analyses and presentations.
- Participate in cross-functional projects with business and finance teams.
- Directly supervise and coach Accounting Manager.
- Support plant management with basic training to retrieve cost data out of the system
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Leadership.
Key skills and competencies of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Strong cost accounting background in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in manufacturing planning & budgeting roles

Professional Qualifications & Minimum Education Requirements
The successful candidate’s qualifications will include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree required
- 5 - 8 years of progressive manufacturing and distribution accounting required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point), specifically strong in Excel
- Strong familiarity of accounting software
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP software highly preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
