• Non- Union Facility with approximately 200 hourly staff members which are a mix of temporary and full-time associates.

• 100% Food Service- 4 bag soup lines- 1 tub line- 18 Kettles- 5 Filling lines- and 4 packaging lines.

• Products include Frozen Soups and Macaroni & Cheese

Company History: Kraft Heinz in Cedar Rapids started as Ashby Soups and was originated in the mid 1980’s by Jamie and Shannon Ashby- along with their mother- using family held recipes for many kinds of soups. In the 1990s’ the name was changed to Quality Chef Foods. Heinz acquired Quality Chef foods in the mid 2000’s. In 2015 Kraft and Heinz merged to become Kraft Heinz as we know it today.

The primary role of a facility Custodian at the Cedar Rapids Factory is to perform custodial maintenance and cleaning duties such as- mopping- dusting- cleaning and restocking restrooms and locker rooms. They ensure the internal and external cleanliness and appearance of the facility reflects with pride. Their detail-oriented approach helps to ensure the facility is always in a safe- clean- and orderly condition.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Performs general- routine custodial duties- to include dusting- mopping- cleaning restrooms/breakrooms- restocking paper and soap supplies- and trash removal.

• Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.

• Empties trash receptacles- disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters- and bags trash for proper disposal.

• Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff- which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.

• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

• Performs cleaning functions specific to each area and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.

• May assist or perform basic snow removal activities and minor maintenance- such as replacing light bulbs- adjusting furniture- or other similar activities.

• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

• Responsible for following all Food Safety Policies and Safety Procedures

• Employees will follow all safety protocols and perform their job responsibilities in a safe manner. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Qualifications:

• Excellent ability to follow through with all tasks without delay.

• Detail-oriented in approach to all tasks.

• Must demonstrate an adequate level of initiative- persistence- and professionalism to independently ensure facilities are constantly prepared for all employees.

• Ability to understand verbal instructions.

• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.

• Ability to operate floor buffer and other related equipment.

• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.

• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

• Ability to read- understand- and follow safety procedures.

• Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

• Education: High school/ GED diploma preferred.

• Two to three years of Industrial custodian experience is preferred.

• Must be able to work in a safe manner.

• Must ensure that quality of work is at the highest level.

• Responsible for following all Food Safety Policies and Safety Procedures.

• Knowledge of and experience with various cleaning equipment and chemicals.

• There is exposure to moving equipment- reasonable industrial noise- and changing floor surfaces.
