Job description
La Palma Nursing Center is looking for a Cook to join our team. We are a 72 bed Skilled Nursing Facility that caters to the elderly population and serving a variety of dietary needs.
The hours are from 5:00AM-1:30PM and is on a 4-2 schedule.
- Review menus prior to preparation of food.
- Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident.
- Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of Cook.
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
- Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
- Prepare and serve snacks.
- Ensure that appropriate equipment and utensils are provided with the resident's meal tray.
- Prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse foods served.
Specific Requirements:
- One year food experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred (but not necessary).
- Must be able to cook variety of foods in large quantities.
- Must be knowledgeable of food procedures.
- Most possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Physical requirements include: Sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying, pushing and pulling
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
