Seaside Ranchos Preschool is the little school with a big heart! We are located in South Torrance, CA and offer a weekday preschool program for little learners ages 2-5. We are looking for an experienced, qualified Preschool Teacher to prepare children for school by easing them into organized education through engaging curriculum, social/emotional development, and play. Our preschool is considered Traditional. You will teach them important elements that they will encounter soon after they enter school life. A preschool teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.

Specific candidate job hours will be M-F 9 or 9:30am to 2:30pm. SRP pays nearly all major holidays, 1.5 weeks off paid Xmas, 1 week off paid spring break, and some flex work days! Our normal school year September-late June. Summer program July-early August. Responsibilities

• Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, movement, song, arts and crafts, etc.) to teach children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
• Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times / establish routines for safe and orderly classroom time (strong classroom management skills)
• Track children’s progress and report to parents
• Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
• Collaborate with a team of other educators, report issues to Director
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
• Assist with diaper changing/potty training

Skills/ Position Requirements

• Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher, including necessary ECE units and transcripts, references or letters of recommendation
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Excellent communication and instructional skills
• Ability to act as mediator between children
• Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
• Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
• Certification in child CPR/First Aid
• Early Childhood Education units, shown in official transcript including: Child Growth & Development, Child Family & Community, a Curriculum based class, and any other ECE class.
• Mandated Reporter
• Immunizations, vaccines, TB Test, Livescan
• Director class or site supervisor are a plus but not needed for immediate employment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
