Summary of Role:

Our Fab 9 Team, in Essex Junction, VT, is seeking a Principal Equipment Engineer. The individual selected for this position will be part of the Surface Prep Manufacturing Engineering organization with primary responsibilities focused on support and continuous improvement of 200mm semiconductor equipment.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and support equipment readiness
  • Shows mastery of many aspects within one’s technical discipline, with group-wide recognition as a senior member of a technical team.
  • Initiative and creativity result in significant changes to existing processes and methods, leads development and implementation.
  • Solves complex, novel and non-recurring problems.
  • Works on small projects or on sets of tasks of large projects and assignments.
  • Trains and guides others in their own work area on technical skills as needed; ability to break down information for internal and external customers in a systematic and communicable manner.
  • Participates in and/or leads (project) teams
  • Typically performs one or more of the following in capacity of either an individual contributor (as directed and/or independently), or as a manager
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Execute maintenance and tool support ensuring equipment readiness
  • Troubleshoot and upgrade of equipment to minimize downtime
  • Analyze and monitor technical charts
  • Drive equipment improvement plans and projects
  • Ensure and follow good safety practices and custody of tools, equipment and other properties
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements
  • Work and collaborate on other projects and/or assignments as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Specialized knowledge, imaginative thinking and sophisticated analytical techniques.
  • Requires a technical (University) degree. (Exceptions approved by local HR).
  • Bachelor of Science degree + 4-5 years of relevant experience OR
  • Master of Science degree + 2-4 years of relevant experience OR
  • PhD + 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Travel required: 0-10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor/silicon processing
  • Understanding and knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Prior experience working in a semiconductor cleanroom environment
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partner
