Description:

RPS has an opening for a senior consultant with a focus on the ocean and coastal environments to join its Ocean Science division in South Kingstown, RI. We are seeking a motivated individual with consulting experience in coastal processes, offshore energy (wind), and climate resilience and excellent problem-solving and communication skills to join us in a blended role focused on technical consulting, business development, and project management in support of coastal protection, energy, and climate resilience, sediment, water quality, permitting support, and other environmental projects in the coastal zone.

Responsibilities:

• Lead coastal services business development and related growth initiatives
• Coordinate with marketing team to support business development and growth
• Lead proposal efforts
• Client communications and public presentation
• Provide technical leadership on approach to and execution of coastal modeling projects
• Oversee and execute modeling studies of coastal environmental processes, focused on: hydrodynamics, sediment dispersion, water quality, coastal/riverine flooding, sea level rise
• Project management
• Develop reports in the preparation of permits and regulatory documents

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• M.S. in marine science, engineering, or related field
• 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting
• Experience with business development, project management, and client interactions
• Demonstrated experience developing or applying numerical models to study coastal processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of presenting complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences
• Strong interpersonal skills with focus on teamwork and collaboration
• Self-motivated with ability to work on highly dynamic and interactive projects both independently and as part of a team
• Experience with programming languages for data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python)
