Job Description

PURPOSE:

As a Process Control Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic technical team driving manufacturing efficiency and productivity in a plant environment. You will learn to apply Engineering principles to technical projects while researching and finding innovative and cost-effective means to improve safety, quality, and delivery. Under general direction, the Process Engineer applies engineering principles to drive process control and continuous improvement in the wax department.

  • Supports production to ensure attainment of business goals, including addressing quality issues, working directly with manufacturing personnel to ensure a smooth running operation
  • Provide engineering leadership in efforts to maintain process control and improve quality
  • Research, select and implement solutions to a variety of problems using logical and analytical engineering techniques.
  • Collaborate and communication with various levels of the organization including production employees, supervisors, peers and subject matter experts.
  • Participate and represent PCC on vendors and customer communications.
  • Track department metrics and develop plans/execute plans to improve these metrics
  • Use statistical process control to monitor the performance of the area and react to out of control conditions
  • Reduce scrap and rework caused by their area of focus
  • Work with the Operations to improve equipment functionality and implement new equipment
  • Interface smoothly with other departments to develop joint plans for resolving parts problems.
  • Work directly with multiple teams to successfully achieve varied goals.
  • Perform audits to evaluate the conformance of the operations team to procedures and develop containment plans
  • Run experiments to reduce process variability and reduce manufacturing costs
  • Maintain project plans and meet project deadlines
  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Maintain Process Maps, PFEMA’s, and control plans
  • Maintain Process Control Procedures
  • Ensures all work is in compliance with environmental, health and safety standards, industry specifications, customer requirements, company standards and related specifications
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma Tools, at minimum a willingness to learn and apply the tools.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective communication skills communication: Listening, Verbal and Written.
  • Self motivated, committed, with a bias for action that delivers results
  • Understanding of material engineering

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • BS in Materials or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years related experience preferred
  • Statistical process control knowledge
  • A broad and thorough knowledge of investment casting technology processes and manufacturing methods
