Position Summary:
The Processing Specialist provides insurance service support to customers and Agents by processing correspondence/requests and follow up on the execution of the requests. The role involves understanding multiple carrier sites, effective communication with carriers, customers and agency owners.
What you'll do all day:
- Handle all incoming underwriting memos, carrier communications, insured EMAILS, and incoming policy documents. Ensure the policy management system is updated to reflect changes and communicate with the producers as needed
- Process cancellations, nonrenewal, inspection requests, underwriting specific information, nonpayment cancellations, reinstatements, etc.
- Outreach clients to resolve necessary underwriting memos and submit documentation to the carriers and follow through to ensure requirements have been met
- Communicate with underwriting departments to obtain detailed information regarding carrier requirements needed to close outstanding policy tasks required for continuous coverage
- Effectively communicate with insureds via phone, email, and text regarding carrier notifications
- Communicate with agents on incurable tasks that would require producer intervention to maintain client relationships
- Effectively navigate multiple carrier platforms to review policy details and underwriting memos and be proficient on multiple carrier guidelines to efficiently handle memos
- Ability to navigate multiple carrier platforms in an independent insurance environment (working with over 100 carrier partnerships) and determine carrier guidelines/procedures to accurately process requests
- Demonstrate accuracy in processing client modifications based on data given
- Manage task metrics which include task per hour requirements and quality audits
- Prioritizes and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate process of transactions while adhering to the standard operating procedures
- Accurately document all transactions
Additional responsibilities (marginal job functions):
- Cooperate purposefully in coaching conversations, side-by-side observations, and goal setting to meet individual and department standards
- Attend regular process/refresher trainings, team trainings and meetings as requested
- Participate in individual development programs and required developmental action plans
- Assist in additional projects as requested
- Identify process changes to improve quality or efficiencies
You'll gain loads of experience in this role but before you do, you should have:
- Must obtain a 4-40 Customer Service Insurance license (company facilitates)
- Minimum of 3 years customer service experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a similar processing role
- Effectively communicate both orally and in written form. This includes the ability to clearly articulate, interpret and summarize information to present to a customer
- Must have a standard understanding of insurance regulation and company operating procedures
- Ability to type at least 45 words per minute (WPM)
- Excellent attention to detail. Ability to produce high quantity of output without substituting quality
- Ability to work independently and with a remote working team
- Must have proven reliability and dependability
- Strong ethical values and integrity
- Experience working with Microsoft products including outlook and excel
Preferred:
- Experience working within personal lines insurance industry
- Experience working in a captive carrier or independent agency processing role
- Experience working in an independent agency environment including navigating multiple carrier platforms, rating systems, and management systems
