Lifetime Products Inc., is seeking a qualified Production Manager to join our team in Mascot (Knoxville) Tennessee.

We are seeking to hire a qualified Production Manager to supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in a blow molding manufacturing environment who are responsible to produce large plastic parts for water sports and outdoor recreation products such as Kayaks, Canoes, Paddle-boards, and other products for the organization. The qualified individual must have the ability to motivate team members, lead with humility, train and provide opportunities for employees, and be very involved in reducing turnover. Must be self-motivated, proactive, organized and have excellent communication skills, as well as a good attitude regarding team work and working well with all areas in the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Provide leadership to production department consisting of Line Supervisors, Team Members, and Area Shift Supervisors. While working across manufacturing with process and maintenance to direct day to day operations.
  • Be accountable to operating plan and financial commitments. Responsible to adhere to department budgets.
  • Collect and analyze data regarding activities, cost operations, and forecast data to determine business unit progress toward stated goals and activities.
  • Lead improvement activities for quality, delivery, cost and safety objectives thru continuous improvement thru lean manufacturing concepts including: 5S, Standardized Work, PDCA, Kaizen, Kanban / Pull, Problem Solving, Coaching, Stop & Fix, Error Proofing, OEE, and Value Stream.
  • Involved in improving staffing levels, turnover, and employee morale.
  • Identify training and development needs for department supervisors and team members, and continually improve the onboarding process.
  • Support continuous improvement through lean manufacturing Kaizen and leading positive change.
  • Support and promote company policy and administer policies fairly and consistently.
  • Facilitate excellent communication with supervisors and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolution.
  • Maintain efficiency through lean manufacturing principles, human resource planning, and flexibility.
  • Accountable for the implementation of Safety Management System in production areas.
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of production areas work instructions.
  • Employee may perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Supervisory knowledge in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding of highly sophisticated equipment and software.
  • Understanding of quality at the source and applying it across production.
  • General understanding of hand tools, drills, cutting tools and material.
  • General understanding of production control in a fast paced production manufacturing.
  • Solid critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven experience with lean manufacturing production concepts and tools.
  • Positive attitude while ensuring team members are following company policies. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution and critical conversations.
  • Attention to detail for conflict management while managing change and developing others.
  • Flexibility with new ideas and different environments to support Kaizen continuous improvement.
  • Motivational and supervisory skills in large group.
  • Ability to work overtime and Saturdays when necessary.
  • Ability to deal with stress and emergency situations.
  • Ability to train others thru coaching and hands on techniques. Monitor and review the performance of the staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement.
  • Highly motivated and high energy level.
  • Performs daily Gemba walks.
  • Proficient computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft office which include Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Valid Tennessee driver's license is required and must have a clean MVR to be placed on our company insurance.
  • Overtime and including Saturdays will be required, as well as on call availability.
  • Some travel may be required for training.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; or five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
