Position Title: Production Supervisor

Reports To: Director of Operations

Department: Operations

Location: Winterset, IA (one location)

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Production Supervisor will lead production organization to achieve safety, people development, quality, delivery, as well as productivity goals and objectives. The Production Manager will lead and motivate their team to develop innovative solutions, implement LEAN concepts, improve quality, and optimize production.

This position will be accountable for safety, quality, and regulatory matters for the production area while ensuring efficient operations are maintained to cost effectively produce quality products within desired customer timelines.

FOCUS:

• Supervises all production, shipping, and materials movement team members.

• Monitors and ensures efficient utilization of equipment and facilities.

• Manages schedules and assignment of work activities, based on priority, equipment, and skill of personnel to accomplish tasks.

• Assures adherence to standard operating procedures and safety practices.

• Recommends equipment and/or layout changes, production methods, material handling procedures.

• Ensures that finished product is manufactured with quality standards and within the given timelines.

• Effectively coaches employees, reviews performance, and provides timely feedback to team members.

• Is able to operate and teach employees how to operate various types of production equipment.

• Maintains proper documentation to support all department activities.

• Enforces company policies and standards of work – The Grip-Tite Way.

• Responsible for ensuring workforce is properly trained in job requirements.

• Partners with Human Resources to address employee relations concerns in a timely manner.

• Reviews employee timecards for accuracy.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• 5-7 years manufacturing experience with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role

• Effective communication and problem-solving skills

• Effective time management of own time and of staff members

• Possesses technical knowledge – has solid understanding of basic functions of equipment in production area

• Computer aptitude including MS Office or similar and SAP

• Self-motivated

• Safety-minded

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• BA/BS Degree Preferred

• LEAN and/or Six Sigma experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching all day with the ability to be mobile throughout required work areas. The employee may frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 lbs.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work inside a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to changing temperatures (hot, cold, humid), moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
