Danfoss Power Solutions in Eden Prairie, MN is looking for a talented individual who will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working in a diverse workforce that reflects the nature of our worldwide business. We manufacture Steering Units, Hydraulics Motors, and Piston Products which are used primarily in powering agricultural and construction equipment. The site is co-located to the Hydraulics Headquarters which provides a great opportunity to gain creditable union plant experience while getting high level exposure to the Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations leaders of the division.
The 1st Shift Production Supervisor will provide daily support to the manufacturing floor by directing, coordinating, developing, coaching, and counseling a cross functional team to ensure production and quality standards are met, while maintaining positive employee morale. The 1st Shift Production Supervisor will work closely with all support functions to prioritize and collaborate on work content.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Regularly communicate and demonstrate the Danfoss principles, ethics, values and philosophy such that these cultural attributes are incorporated throughout the organization.
- Ensure safe working conditions to minimize employee risk to injury and drive a zero-tolerance safety culture.
- Facilitate production schedules on your shift by leading a production team comprised of skilled Leads, Technicians, Machinists, Assemblers and Testers. Also ensure accurate inventory levels and keep the transaction accuracy within compliance to accounting principles.
- Coordinate shift staffing and overtime levels to achieve productivity and financial results.
- Follow Supervisor’s Standard Work process and ensure all reports are following their Standardized Work processes.
- Maintain a high level of morale through positive employee relations, and drive for a culture of continuous improvement. Lead by example.
- Establish/monitor goals, provide performance feedback, establish development plans and provide coaching to direct reports.
- Maintain effective communication with other shifts, departments and management. Ensure cross functional sharing of resources to meet plant goals.
Background & Skills
Required (basic) qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or High School Diploma from an accredited institution with 5+ years of experience.
- 3+ year of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering from an accredited institution.
- 3+ years supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with machining and CNC equipment.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Lean/Six Sigma trainings or certifications
- Union environment experience
