PACKING TECHNICIAN
Supply Chain – HUNT VALLEY, MD

The Hunt Valley Packing Department is responsible for filling and packaging brands such as Covergirl, Rimmel, Max Factor, Sally Hansen and Philosophy. We seek a Packing Technician to be responsible for the filling and packaging our coveted brands.

The Packing Technician will report primarily to the area leader and will work alongside technicians to ensure product is made safely and with good quality.

The Hunt Valley Site has been in operation for 55 years and is home to some of Coty’s most Iconic Color Cosmetics brands including COVERGIRL, Sally Hansen, Max Factor, Rimmel & Kylie Cosmetics. The site employs approximately 200 people and is located about 20 miles outside of Baltimore.

THE ROLE

The Packing Technician works on a team that is responsible for keeping production flowing, meeting performance goals and maintaining the high level of quality that consumers expect from our products.

In this role you will be responsible for:
Safety/5S:
Start and operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Applies safety rules and uses appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
Ensure safety rules and standards are followed consistently.
Report near misses, accidents, and safety concerns
Achieves and reports 5S standards for equipment and line area
Actively participates in BOSS (Behavioral Observation Safety Systems) and necessary audits, incident investigation process
Facilitates appropriate training for all safety related activities

Quality:
Conducts in-process quality check and takes necessary actions for non-compliance
Collects and reports hourly data for quality and OEE
Understands quality measures and KPI linkage to site results and vision
Ensures compliance with necessary CGMP standards
Reports quality deviations

Production:
Perform all basic operations needed with equipment and manual processes to ensure designated filling and packing line(s) are properly running according to standards and expectations.
Proposes improvements in the packaging and filling processes and participates in improvement events
Ensures adherence to Safety and Quality processes and procedures
Utilizes SAP to perform necessary material movements and transactions
Ensuring all materials are ordered and verified while concurrently setting up the line for operation
Maintaining operation of line(s), responding to all stops quickly, performing troubleshooting and utilizing the Troubleshooting Guide, and when unable to solve the issue before involving Maintenance and/or Technical Support
Update standards as needed and communicating any and all changes/updates to the other shifts
Complete Root Cause Problem Solving 5-Whys and action plans as required
Participates in the execution of the format change according to the standard of the job adherence to times and report deviation; manage tooling; set up, etc.
Effective changeover of the line, with the ability to perform or oversee change over on each piece of line equipment; participate in each required activity during and as follow up of the change-over
Report technical issues in the line and the suspected cause

QUALIFICATIONS

We’d love to see candidates who have:
Essential:
HS diploma required, Associates degree in related field a plus
Be able to demonstrate basic computer skills
Be able to lift 55 pounds without assistance
Be able to push and pull 100 pounds without assistance
Be able to frequently seize, grab, hold and turn objects with both hands
Requires eight (8) or more hours of standing and/or walking
Be able to climb ladders, stairs, work at heights and can frequently kneel and stoop
Perform basic math and be able to use calculator
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Ability to work well in teams, good interpersonal skills
Have great attention to detail
We are a 3-shift operation, must have ability to support shift as assigned including weekends and holidays and work overtime when needed

Desirable:
Previous manufacturing experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot issues in weighing materials
Previous experience with SAP, Excel, Word & Outlook
