The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Program Coordinator, Donor Relations and Stewardship for the Marketing Operations department. In this role you will effectively steward HSUS mid-level donors. You will also work closely with the manager to implement a comprehensive and effective stewardship program. Finally, you will provide consistent, timely, and appropriate acknowledgement and stewardship of several key donor groups, helping to ensure donor satisfaction, retention, and program upgrades.

You will be responsible for:

• Executing and managing special engagement, stewardship, and acknowledgement programs including phone calls, thank you postcards, birthday and anniversary acknowledgements, and quarterly reports designed to steward mid-level donors while also following existing stewardship policies, quality control guidelines, and other standards;
• Assisting with creating and mailing donor acknowledgements, receipts, and other materials for thanking and informing donors regarding the crucial nature of their support;
• Utilizing databases to document donor experiences and interactions, including survey results, donor outreach and record changes to help determine the most effective engagement tools;
• Working collaboratively with other team members of the Marketing Operations department to identify best stewardship practices and practical implementation of new programs including the processing of high-dollar deposits, preparing stock gift receipts, generating templates, and creating stewardship messaging;
• Developing and refining internal tools to help understand donor journeys and processes;
• Researching and creating new donor experiences to further engage mid-level donors with the Company mission;
• Serving as an additional point of contact for donors when applicable.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred;
• A minimum of two (2) years of related work experience required;
• Experience with CRM systems;
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to research new and innovative approaches;
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
• Ability to multitask and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments;
• Ability to exercise judgment;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
• Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member in a team environment;
• Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.

This is a hybrid position based in the DC Metro Area.
