General Summary
SCADA Engineer - Administers and integrates databases, graphical user interfaces, and enterprise system development. Provides project-based support and inspection of control systems. Project Engineers are responsible for design, technical leadership, and technical project management for maintaining and supporting the equipment and instrumentation which provides important KPIs and key operational data to ensure the effectiveness and safety of our production facilities.
The primary tasks performed by Process Control Engineers shall be:
- Consulting with users, stakeholders, and engineers to understand their goals and explaining research results
- Conducting usability testing
- Creating wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps, and screen flows for HMIs
- Creating graphic libraries for HMI graphical components
- Creating, updating, or configuring DCS and PLC logic
- Developing and enforcing graphical design standards for DCS and SCADA related applications.
- Developing personas and usage scenarios
- Analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to enhance the user experience
- Assisting with content development
- Reverse Engineering of processes, Control logic, or applications.
- Reverse engineering of control systems articulated via drawings, written, and verbal communications.
- Updating of standard operating procedures, specifications, and other technical documentation.
- Conducting research on site
- Inspecting equipment and technologies
- Resolving onsite malfunctions
- Install new systems and technology
- Inspect and test material and machinery for safety
- Ensure proper maintenance of onsite equipment
- Supervise and direct onsite crew (e.g., technicians)
- Track and document work progression
- Perform troubleshooting
- Identify all issues
- Suggest and implement solutions
- Adhere to City’s rules and regulations
- Operate vehicle in a safe manner
- Check and update field automation systems and databases
- Team up with colleagues, and other team members including City staff and vendors.
- Build relationships and trust with City staff and vendors
Qualifications - External
Engineer requirements and qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or 5 or more years’ experience in controls engineering or similar field
- Well-versed in technical aspects of field projects, including machinery and equipment
- Understanding of safety guidelines
- Attention to detail
- Outstanding communication skills
- An analytical mind and strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to work in adverse weather, nights and occasional overtime and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Candidate may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions in facility industrial environments (i.e., domestic, and wild animals, confined spaces, heights, mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.), poor atmospheric conditions (i.e., fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation), extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noise. The work often involves the ability to perform routine moderate lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs and occasional heavy lifting up to 100 lbs.
