GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking an entry-level structural engineer in our Indiana Bridge Design Group. This candidate will assist in designing and planning production tasks on bridge replacement, and bridge rehabilitation projects for State and Local clients. Field assignments may also be required. Put your skills and expertise to work on challenging initiatives alongside accomplished colleagues from our downtown Indy, Fishers, or Fort Wayne offices. Play a role as a key contributor to delivering successful bridge design projects while gaining the skills necessary to become an expert in your field and grow your career. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Show a desire to take instruction and learn from other experienced engineers with a “team first”
    attitude.
  • Work with our clients to identify the most desirable solutions to their infrastructure needs by
    participating in scoping site visits, client meetings, and developing scoping reports.
  • Study and learn INDOT and LPA best practices to best deliver GAI projects in a manner
    consistent with client standards.
  • Work with GAI Project Managers by communicating project design needs and completing assigned
    tasks within project budgets and schedules.
  • Perform structural design calculations for bridge rehabilitation and bridge replacement projects.
  • Develop quantity calculations and cost estimates.
  • Prepare Technical Specifications.
  • Knowledge of reinforced concrete design, steel design, and pre-stressed design.
  • Use CAD tools to prepare designs and work with CAD Technicians
  • Supports team with various tasks and duties such as research, data collection, field
    investigations, inspections, reports, plan production, and design

Experience

Required
  • Less than 3 year(s): Related experience working with engineering consulting or similar experience.
  • Knowledgeable in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
Preferred
  • Graduate-level engineering degree and coursework will count toward experience.
  • Basic Finite Element training is preferred.

Education

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Structural Engineering
