Constitution Construction is a construction company with exposure to residential rehab/renovation, affordable housing, and commercial construction projects. Constitution Construction's parent company, Constitution Real Estate, is a real estate company with property management and construction divisions (Constitution Construction). Constitution Real Estate acquires, renovates, and manages assets across the state of Connecticut.

We are looking for a Project Estimator that can manage estimation of projects and support of the site superintendent. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes, be able to work with and without plans, be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate will spend the majority of time in office with site visits as necessary.

The Estimator prepares or assists in the preparation of estimates supporting the Construction Management, General Contracting or Property Management services offered by the Company. When requested, the Estimator may also perform project management tasks. This is a full-time in-office position.

Responsible for estimation, inbound leads, site visits, material pricing and ordering, self-performed trades, subcontractors, scheduling, permitting, working with superintendent to hand off job execution, work with controller to generate weekly budget reporting to owners, and change order creation on assigned project.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Work week of 40 hours, attend staff meetings, comply with published policy
• Set up estimates within the Company's software applications utilizing company templates and adhering to accounting procedures
• Develop bid strategy and how best to develop the most competitive estimate
• Invite subcontractors to bid or invite to submit pricing proposal
• Develop scopes of work
• Issue and manage the RFI process
• Complete quantity take-offs
• Price labor and materials to be furnished by Constitution
• Evaluate/Qualify subcontractor/vendor bids
• Review draft estimates with supervisor
• Purchase materials, equipment, and subcontracts
• Provide a detailed and informed hand-off to superintendent or directly to subcontractor
• Utilize cost analysis procedures for accounting reports
• Attend project walks/site-visits as required
• Schedule subcontractors and vendors
• Attend weekly meetings designed to coordinate work

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years experience as an Estimator in residential and commercial construction
• Project Experience: Multi-Family Renovation, Apartment Renovation, Mixed Use, Commercial/Retail
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Proficient in the use of construction software programs and MS Office Suite
• Knowledge of construction delivery methods, construction means and methods, and cost estimating
