Job Summary
Strawser Construction Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides pavement preservation solutions for public infrastructure and private clients. We are currently looking for a Project Manager. Reporting to the Construction Manager, a Project Manager coordinates road construction projects within tight timeframes, budgets and adherence to project specifications.
Main Responsibilities
- Overall management of construction projects to ensure safety, quality, timeliness, and cost controls are being fulfilled in collaboration with Construction Manager and Estimators.
- Attends pre-construction and post-construction meetings with customers.
- Establishes work schedules and crew assignment for each phase of their projects.
- Develops project plans, coordinates time frames internally and externally, monitors and updates schedule as necessary.
- Secures crew lodging, laydown yards, project materials, and any other necessities for the projects assigned.
- Directs and coordinates activities with Construction Foreperson to ensure projects progress on schedule, within job budgets, and in accordance with project plan and specifications.
- Implements and monitors established standards, procedures, and systems for inventory control, quality control, productivity, and safety enforcement on construction projects.
- Ability to travel and coordinate projects within the Midwest Region from March to November. Position requires travel from 50-75% of this time frame.
- Build and maintain relationships with prime contractors, subcontractors and vendors.
- Respond and address inquiries and basic needs from customers and affected public.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Basic understanding of economics and accounting.
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Construction Management or similar technical training/experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a project manager within the construction industry preferred.
- Position requires travel from 50-75% of this time frame.
