DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker is seeking a Project Manager- Highway who either has previous experience managing projects or aspires to take their next step in their career to grow into a Project Manager for our Columbus, OH office. The ideal candidate will have successful experience task leading within the roadway discipline on a wide variety of projects and be comfortable guiding and delegating to less experienced staff. Initially, the Roadway Project Manager will provide engineering design and oversight in the successful delivery of transportation and public works projects throughout Ohio and may support projects in other states. Prior experience using OpenRoads is preferred to effectively perform the tasks noted above.

The candidate must demonstrate a thorough understanding of various engineering topics to be an effective mentor to our less experienced team members. The successful candidate will have access to Michael Baker’s Project Management training courses and office leadership will introduce them to industry contacts to begin developing relationships with key client decision makers. Ultimately, the Project Manager will be integrated into proposal preparation and project pursuits.

Expected experience includes:

  • Leading design and plan production for conventional design-bid-build and/or design-build highway and/or multimodal projects
  • Reviewing the work of other professionals, including QA/QC of plans and specifications, mentoring, training and growing staff in the performance of job duties
  • Having a broad understanding of roadway design, including roadway elements, hydrology and hydraulics, traffic-related items, and highway planning

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio, or the ability to obtain an OH PE license within four months of hire
  • 7-12 years of experience working on roadway design projects (Emphasis on ODOT and City of Columbus projects preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in the delivery of transportation projects and programs
  • Software proficiency- roadway design software (OpenRoads/Microstation preferred)
  • Working experience with ODOT and/or City of Columbus
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $93,844- $140,779. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
