Central Valley Indian Health is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Clinical Psychologist. This is a full-time psychotherapy position, working with Native American individuals, couples and families with good administrative support and minimal additional tasks. This is a full-time position Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00 (closed from 12 – 1 for lunch). Loan repayment options through NHSC & IHS.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnose psychological, emotional or behavioral disorders.
- Collect information through observations, interviews, and surveys.
- Develop treatment plans and retain treatment records for each client in accordance with charting standards, both paper and electronic.
- Help patients define goals and plan action to achieve personal, social, educational and vocational development and adjustment.
- Test for patterns that will help patients better understand and predict behavior.
- Monitor client progress through regular meetings or sessions.
- Use patients’ knowledge to increase understanding among individuals and groups.
- Participate in departmental program development, implementation and evaluation.
- Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide excellent service/support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
- Any other duties assigned by his or her direct supervisor or CVIH Administration.
COMPLIANCE:
- Maintain Standards of Conduct or Code of Conduct for Health Care Compliance.
- Ensure productivity goals are met.
- Ensure and maintain clinic schedule compliance.
- Maintain eligibility as a provider for health care plans.
- Responsible for HIPAA Compliance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- CA Licensed Psychologist.
- Doctorate degree required.
- Clearance from the National Practitioners Data Bank and the California Board of Psychology.
- Knowledge of office skills, typing, filing, medical terminology, and computer literacy.
- Valid CPR Certificate.
- Knowledge of state regulations with regard to ethics, treatment, patient rights and confidentiality preferred.
- A valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record with the ability to be insured under CVIH’s automobile insurance.
- Awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs, or willingness to learn; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures. Tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
- This is a “Safety Sensitive” position and as such, is subject to random drug testing and is required as a condition of continued employment.
