Under the Support Center Director's general supervision, the Part-Time Service Desk Technician will provide first-line support of inbound service requests and incidents, focusing on excellent customer service. Supports faculty, students, and staff in using the web, computer, and audiovisual technologies.

Essential Functions

  • Receive service requests via ticketing system, telephone, and in-person; technicians will resolve or properly route incident and service requests for resolution.
  • Provide tier 1 support for applications, printers, and computer peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems, consulting with other ITS groups for additional service when necessary.
  • Assist with the operation of audiovisual equipment as assigned, providing smart classroom support as required.
  • Document work
  • Maintain and develop skills by attending professional seminars, taking courses, and earning industry certifications.
  • Perform related and special duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Initiative-taking, working well with others and individually
  • Ability and desire to document all work for others to work and learn from
  • Experience using O365 applications
  • Experience training others
  • Demonstrated strengths in problem-solving, issue-resolution, diligence, and ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with supported software and hardware
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Two years in a customer service role
  • Experience working with PCs and Macs in a support environment
  • Authorized to work in the US legally without sponsorship

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience supporting and configuring network printers
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft or Mac operating systems
  • Certificate (CompTIA, HDI, or ITIL)

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, multifunction printers/devices, and filing cabinets.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a part-time position: Vary depending on scheduling needs but primarily Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 am to 3:30 pm

No travel is expected for this position
