We need you. Sheldon Strategy & Consulting is seeking a seasoned communications professional with an impressive background in media relations, crack project management skills, and a motivating positive attitude to join our small (but mighty!) team.

Not only will you work directly with our diverse roster of clients, including major gaming and esports organizations, tech start-ups, fashion brands and more, you will have the opportunity to have a major impact on the operations of a burgeoning boutique communications company.

Position Overview

You will play a critical role in supporting the team in continuously moving campaigns, projects and deliverables forward so we consistently exceed client expectations and company goals.

Results-driven media relations is a critical element of the position. This means you have established, solid media relationships, unparalleled writing skills and a creative mind that can quickly find an effective solution to almost any problem.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write and edit content for multiple audiences, including pitches, press releases and media alerts to support outreach campaigns
  • Develop strategic media angles based on timely trends and news to secure client coverage
  • Create effective thought leadership opportunities for clients, including placed bylines and speaking engagements
  • Cultivate and maintain media relationships, consistently thinking of new ways to engage with reporters and editors on behalf of clients
  • Help design and implement new processes and procedures to ensure effective workflow
  • Support client award and speaking programs, overseeing all aspects of the submission process
  • Monitor business and industry trends to influence strategies and identify client opportunities
  • Improve upon existing SOPs, with the goal of exceeding company business goals
  • Work closely with clients and team members to ensure client requests and projects are met on time and exceed expectations
  • Provide day-to-day support and quality oversight across all aspects of work
  • Ensure that clients experience the highest level of service from our team
  • Support CEO in meeting strategic growth goals, including business new development and new client offerings

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of previous agency, corporate communications or media experience
  • Exceptionally strong writing and communication skills with friendly positive attitude – non-negotiable!
  • Strategic mindset- ability to look at something from the 30,000-foot level and implement step by step action plans accordingly
  • Passion for news and culture- and desire to always be learning
  • Digital media savvy with an understanding of influencers, social networks, and platforms/apps
  • Ability to balance high-priority, long-term projects with short-term, immediate deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and be a strong, proactive leader to a team in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong management skills, with a knack for managing both up and down to ensure the team is working efficiently
  • Strong project management acumen with superior attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize, and implement solid organizational processes
  • Confidence and skill in handling clients and executive stakeholders

Pay: $75.00 - $125.00 per hour
